To get started you will need to pay a one-off $50 registration fee. You can then register for an upcoming Club track day where you will complete an induction. The induction will focus on the safety guidelines that must be adhered to and your driving ability will be assessed. Following the induction you will be free to enjoy your first track day. We will follow your progress so you get the most from the day. Your safety is our number one priority. Once you have successfully completed the induction and initial track day you will be able to book all future track days on both our Club and National Circuits.
Open Wheelers are not permitted on HD Auto Track Days.
To participate in an HD Auto track day you must have a minimum of a restricted civil licence or a valid MNZ competition licence.

Frontal Head Restraints (FHR) are mandatory. For vehicles that have a 4 point harness or greater there are various tethered devices available including Hans, NecksGen REV, Impact Accel or Simpson Hybrid. All of these are acceptable. For vehicles fitted with a standard lap and diagonal 3-point belt system – a foam roll / collar is acceptable.
Factory Standard cars – lap diagonal belts-
Foam neck brace, helmet, fire retardant race suit, closed in shoes
Modified Vehicles – with a roll cage, 4 point harness etc
FHR, helmet, fire retardant race suit, shoes and gloves

Drivers will be split into four groups, taking into account the drivers ability: slow, medium, fast and race. Track gates open at 7.00am and documentation is from 7.30am. Then drivers briefing will be at 8.30am and track goes live with the first session at 9.00am. All sessions are 15 minutes long and run throughout the day. The aim is to give you at least 6 x 15-minute sessions on track during the day.
Induction Process: HD Auto is run and operated by Hampton Downs. This event is covered by Hampton Downs Insurances and H&S policies. Please note that these operate outside of all other permits and external organisations.
To ensure that we are compliant with our Insurers, Work Safe NZ, and other interested parties; it is imperative that all new members complete Hampton Downs induction process, for each independent activity. Please note that experience, and previous track experience at Hampton Downs, is not factored in the induction process.
Once you have completed an induction on the Club Circuit, you’ll be invited to National Circuit days.
