In association with NZ MOTORBIKE LEGENDS & MOTORCYCLE NZ
Hampton Downs brings you the third instalment of the MIKE PERO MotoFest over the weekend of March 7th and 8th 2020. The NZ Superbikes will headline the event as always but the 2020 event will see the launch of the Classic NZ Grand Prix, which is a one hour race on the Saturday afternoon featuring international entrants. Legends Aaron Slight, Kevin Magee, Andrew Stroud and Graeme Crosby, will be back and a full round of the NZSBK Championship will deliver plenty of action on track.
Round 3 of the 2019 New Zealand Superbike Championship will be contested at the Mike Pero Motofest. Ten classes, from Superbikes to Sidecars, will take to the track to contest national titles. The prestigious NZTT title will also be contested on Sunday afternoon.
2020 sees the launch of the Classic NZ Grand Prix. This is a one hour race on Saturday afternoon, that has been promoted throughout the world so expect to see a few international riders in the field. We expect over 40 entries. Pit stops and rider changes will provide extra action so grab a good viewing spot at 4pm on Saturday the 7th, and take in a little bit of motorcycle racing history.
Enjoy free access to our MotoFest Legends garage thanks to Star Insurance. All our legends and the many bikes they are riding will be publicly accessible throughout the weekend. They will also do demos daily over the Motofest weekend. Public will also have access to the daily warm up sessions before each track demo.
See motorcycles of all kinds, shapes and sizes infield in the Kawasaki Bike Park. There’ll be 100s of bikes parked infield over the weekend – on display for all to see.
The Shoei Helmets sponsoring Classic Two Sroke category will feature again at MoroFest. This class will consist of only two stroke racing machines from typically the 70s’ 80s’ and 90s’. For many in the grandstand it will be a new experience to hear the high-pitched scream of the bikes of yesteryear. The line up will include the very popular Yamaha TZ250 and 350 bikes as well as the legendary TZ750s. We’re also expecting Suzuki RG500s’ and a number of 125 two strokes. The separate Post Classic Class will consist of FI and FII machines which will be predominantly 4 cylinder four strokes (including a few triples and twins).
