Exceptional driver line-up for 66th NZ Grand Prix
Shane Van Gisbergen, Greg Murphy, Chris Van der Drift and Andre Heimgartner headline an exceptional NZ Grand Prix grid for the 66th running of the prestigious event at Hampton Downs on January 24th.
It has been hailed as the strongest and most interesting line-up since the 80s and 90s by New Zealand’s most recognised motor racing superstar Greg Murphy, who has come out of retirement to support the event.
And many icons of the sport are echoing Murphy’s thoughts as we look forward to the Grand Prix, which is being held at Hampton Downs for the very first time, and the first time any Castrol Toyota Racing Series event has been held on the longer and more challenging 4km international format track which has ten corners and a current lap record of 1 minute 27.637 seconds.
The Field (to date) is as follows:
Shane Van Gisbergen | Chris van der Drift | Greg Murphy |
Andre Heimgartner | Dan Gaunt (2 x winner) | Kenny Smith (3 x winner) |
Matthew Payne | Josh Bethune | Kaleb Ngatoa |
Billy Frazer | Brendon Leitch | Damon Leitch |
Support Classes for the event are as follows:
Napa Central Muscle Cars | Nexen Mazda Racing | TradeZone GTRNZ |
Motul Honda Cup | Best Bars Toyota 86 | Ryco V8 Utes |
BNT V8s |
