What is Hampton Downs?

Hampton Downs is a 450 acre motorsport park, based around a new international race circuit. It boasts a convention centre ‘Hampton’s Pavilion’, hospitality facilities, purpose built skid pan and industrial units. Within the circuit’s park-like surroundings you can try your hand at car and motorcycle experiences ranging from ‘hot lap’ thrills to advanced high-speed and driver training. There is also the SUV course, skeet shooting and even paintball. For accommodation there are 80 luxury apartments that overlook the circuit with 30 available to hire during events. With a packed schedule right from opening in January 2010, there’s a series of events you may wish to include in your plans!

Where is Hampton Downs?

It is located 65km South of Auckland and 60km North of Hamilton on State Highway One. It is 10 minutes South of the Bombay Hills.

What are the closest airports?
 

Auckland International airport is within 45 minutes and is located in Manukau, Auckland.
Hamilton airport is within 1 hour and 10 minutes and is located in Rukuhia, Hamilton.

How many events take place at Hampton Downs?
 

Hampton Downs is utilized every day of the week with events throughout the year with a full range of events on the weekends. As well as public events it is hired by driver training schools, car manufacturers, corporates, car clubs and cycling organisations. 

Where do I pre-purchase tickets from?
 

For a lot of events at Hampton Downs can purchase tickets at www.hdticketing.co.nz If the tickets are not on this website then gate sales usually apply. If you have any queries call us on (09) 280 6504.
 

Do the grandstands have allocated seating?
 

No, grandstand tickets allow you to move amongst the grandstand seats, viewing the track from a variety of locations. They are on a first come first serve basis. Please note that grandstand seats are limited
 

Do I get a refund if it rains during an event?
 

No refunds are given due to rain – the event continues rain or shine.
 

Is parking free?
 

Yes there is some free parking within Hampton Downs Motorsport Park. However, some events do charge a car parking fee, before coming to an event please check the event information. The location of the car parks is dependent on the size of the event. When you arrive please follow the instructions from the parking wardens.
 

Are pets or dogs allowed?
 

No pets or dogs are allowed in the Hampton Downs Motorsport Park. It is a general regulation for all track-based motorsport that in the interests of safety, animals are not be admitted to motorsport venues.
 

Is food available infield?

Yes there is food available. There is a range of Gourmet Sandwiches, salads, pies, slices, cakes, confectionary, ice creams, fruit, coffee, tea and soft drinks. There are also outlets with the traditional pottle of hot chips, hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos.

Can I do my own catering?

Hampton Downs has an exclusive catering arrangement with accredited caterers. No bulk catering or commercial food and beverage is permitted onsite. For enquiries regarding catering please contact us on admin@hamptondowns.com or call us on (09) 280 6590.
 

Can I bring alcohol into the venue?
 

No, due to our liquor license you cannot bring your own alcohol into the venue. There will be bag checks at entry points. Please adhere to the signage and security guards instructions. As a responsible host Hampton Downs encourages groups of people to nominate a designated sober driver for the day.
 

What is pit lane etiquette?
 

In the pit area there is to be no alcohol consumed, no smoking and you must wear covered footwear (this means no jandals!)
 

Do you have a radio station?

Yes, Hampton FM is 106.8. Tune in to hear the commentary and up to date information.

What to bring to an event at Hampton Downs?
 

You will need a camera, enclosed walking shoes (so you can walk around the pit area), sunscreen, hat and a rain jacket just in case.
 

Are the apartments available to hire?
 

Yes, the Hampton Downs Motor Lodge manages the apartments. For availability and rates please contact motorlodge@hamptondowns.com or call (09) 280 6590.
 

How much are the apartments to hire? 
 

The rates are event driven and alters accordingly. Please email motorlodge@hamptondowns.com or call (09) 280 6590 for rates on a specific weekend.
 

What is your disability access?

If you have a disability sticker please come to Gate 2 and you are welcome to park infield.
Wheelchair accessible viewing is available throughout Hampton’s pavilion overlooking turn one and two. Another good location is at the top of the front straight or overlooking turn nine.
Disabled toilets are located next to Hampton’s pavilion with a ramp leading up to them.

Helicopter landing?
 

Helicopters are welcome to land subject to prior approval. Please phone us on (09) 280 6590 to obtain landing permission. 
 

What medical facilities are available?
 

St John have a permanent medical unit located behind Hampton’s Pavilion. During an event there will also be a mobile ambulance onsite.
 

Who do I contact if there is an emergency?
 

In the case of an emergency please phone the circuit manager on 021 1330 111.
