Still working on resource consent!
Press Release - March 2005
Resource consent for Hampton Downs expected to be lodged by July for the proposed Hampton Downs Motorsport Park is expected to be granted by October 2005
A team of up to 20 professionals, headed by engineer, Dr Peter Goldsmith of Fraser Thomas Ltd, is involved with the resource consent application, the work involved having taken a little longer than initially expected.
“The people of the north Waikato and the District Council have been very supportive of the Motorsport Park, so we do not anticipate any major problems,” says Hampton Downs director, Tony Roberts.
All of the proposed apartments have been sold as well as the 12 industrial units, with waiting lists for any that become available.
A new road that cuts through the top part of the land on which the complex will be built, is completed which has provided an extra 10,000 cubic metres of top soil and fill for use on the circuit and surrounds.
“Unlike any other track in New Zealand, this new circuit – the design of which is now finalized – will have plenty of rise and fall,” says Roberts. “It will be a challenging and rewarding track to drive with two long straights and at least five good passing opportunities around the full circuit. The 3.8km big circuit has ten corners, five right hand and five left. The main straight is 885 metres long with a 15 metre rise and fall. The back straight is flat with a length of 800 metres. “The Club circuit has its own infrastructure, including parking and a driver training hall.
This track is 1.2kms in length, with five corners and one small hill. The longer circuit is 2.8kms with eight corners and hilly contours, incorporating the long front straight and pit garages.” The two circuits sit on a very large 180 acre site, while a further 220 acres will contain a camping ground, lifestyle blocks, Business Park and an SUV course. . Architect, Paul Higgins, has finalized the design of the pit buildings which will have 32 5 x 12 metres garages which will each accommodate two cars. The centre of the pit garage block will have a toilet block and dumb waiter for servicing the corporate suites above. Each garage will be fully serviced with water, compressed air and electricity.
The corporate suites above the pits will be used for a variety of activities and for large events, marquees can also be placed on the roof. For anyone interested in corner naming rights or other signage, please contact Tony Roberts on 021 1332895
